The four-player co-op loot shooter "Fungal Punk" officially launched its 1.0 version on October 20. The game's recent review approval rate on Steam is 81%, with an overall approval rate of 88% across all languages, earning it a "Very Positive" overall rating.
"Fungal Punk" first launched on Steam in Early Access in July 2025 and has received continuous updates since. Version 1.0 adds a new playable character, a weapon, a mission, and an area, along with several performance improvements. After the official release, developer Pigeons at Play rolled out two more patches, although the game still contains some bugs and glitches.
Players can operate solo or form a "New Atlas Danger Squad" of up to four members, controlling expendable robots to travel to planets, deal with fungus-infested alien technology, and attempt to return to base. Missions include not only standard enemy wave defense but also Rogue-like modes and dungeons.
During combat, enemies will pick up the limbs of fallen comrades to enhance themselves, requiring players to completely dismantle their targets. Weapon upgrades use a Tetris-like grid system, where only modules that fit into the grid will take effect.
The game has also launched on PS5 and is included in the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium game catalogs. It currently holds a user rating of 3.9 out of 5 on the PlayStation Store. OpenCritic has only collected a few media reviews so far, with an average score of 8 out of 10; these initial results reflect a strong start for the full release, though its stability still needs to be monitored alongside subsequent patches.
