The Prime Video reality competition show Fallout Shelter: The Experiment is set to premiere on January 13, 2027, with the champion winning a $1 million prize. The show consists of seven episodes, with the first four released on day one and the remaining three updated weekly until January 27.
The show will invite ordinary participants into a blast-proof vault built by Vault-Tec, testing their ability to cope with a post-apocalyptic environment through high-intensity drills, psychological dilemmas, and behavioral tests involving moral challenges. In the end, one contestant will emerge as the winning "Vault Dweller."
Fallout TV series creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, along with series lead Todd Howard, are all involved behind the scenes. Production company Studio Lambert has previously worked on reality shows such as The Traitors, The Circle, and Squid Game: The Challenge.
Fallout Shelter: The Experiment is not a new game or a narrative TV series, but an unscripted competition show that borrows the Fallout vault setting, visual elements, and themes of moral dilemmas. The first two seasons of the Fallout TV series are currently available on Prime Video, with the third season in production; specific details about the format of this live-action competition show are yet to be announced.
