On October 26, Sega announced that global sales of the high-speed action-adventure game Sonic X Shadow Generations have surpassed 3 million copies. This milestone was revealed on the game's second anniversary, covering combined sales of physical copies, digital versions, and all platforms.
Sonic X Shadow Generations was initially released on October 25, 2024. It is currently available on PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam, and the Epic Games Store, supporting subtitles in 13 languages and launching simultaneously worldwide across multiple platforms.
The game consists of two parts. One is a remastered version of Sonic Generations with new elements, allowing players to control Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic through various stages; the other is an all-new title starring Shadow, titled Shadow Generations. Both storylines revolve around the space-time distortions caused by the "Time Eater."
The standard edition of this title is priced at 6,589 yen in Japan. As of the time of writing, there are over 12,000 user reviews on Steam, with a 96% positive rating.
