"Cozy games" on Steam continue to grow rapidly. As of the time of this report in 2026, there were 1,341 games with the "cozy" user tag; calculated over the same January-to-October period, the number of new releases increased by 186% compared to 2025.
PC Gamer author Lauren Morton revisited the "cozy games" trend she highlighted in 2023. Google Trends data shows that the relative search interest for "cozy games" is currently about twice what it was in 2023. Since Google does not disclose absolute search volumes, this data only reflects relative changes in search interest.
Supply growth is also evident. The number of games with this user tag on Steam increased from 389 in 2024 to 650 in 2025, with 468 titles released between January and October 2025. New releases continue to emerge in niche categories such as organization, farm simulation, idle games, and desktop companions.
The use of the "cozy" concept in marketing has also become more frequent. The number of PR emails Morton received with "cozy" in the subject line rose from 15 in 2023 to 365, 782, and 887 in the following three years. She also cautioned that user tags and marketing language may inflate statistical results, but players have already formed a mature culture of recommendations and categorization, making "cozy games" an increasingly established segment of the gaming community.
