The Ivors Composer Awards 2026 shortlist for "Best Original Video Game Score" has been announced by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors. Three titles—007 First Light, Saros Cycle, and Spirit of the North 2—are in the final running.
Joe Henson and Alexis Smith of The Flight are nominated for their work on the spy action game 007 First Light; Sam Slater and Daniel Avery received nominations for the sci-fi game Saros Cycle; and Pav Gekko is shortlisted for the atmospheric adventure game Spirit of the North 2.
The judges consider not only the artistic merit of the melodies themselves but also how the music changes with gameplay and enhances player immersion. Eligible works must be original soundtracks for games released in the UK between January 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026. Composers must hold British or Irish nationality, or have official UK residency status.
The video game music award, previously presented at the main Ivor Novello Awards ceremony in May, has been moved to autumn and is now part of a new event. The final winner will be announced at the awards ceremony held at Grosvenor House in London on November 17, 2026, with three works currently shortlisted.
