miHoYo has confirmed that the life simulation game Starward Valley will launch on Switch 2, with the console version planned for release in 2027. The game will first arrive on PC and mobile devices on December 4, 2026, followed by the Switch 2 version.
Players will take on the role of a planet administrator for the interstellar agency Loomi Co., tasked with revitalizing a small planet. The main gameplay loop involves exploring the environment, gathering resources, inviting various animal neighbors to settle in, and constructing new facilities to improve residents' lives.
The game also offers daily activities such as fishing, cooking, bug catching, and decorating homes and planets. Its genre and gameplay have been compared to relaxing life simulation titles like Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but this title is neither a new entry nor a spin-off in Nintendo's series.
Starward Valley was first announced in September 2025 and has since undergone multiple rounds of testing, with the final test scheduled for late September to early October 2026. Pre-registration rewards include free furniture and a special outfit set.
The Switch 2 platform already features upgraded versions of titles like Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Stardew Valley, and Starward Valley will further expand its life simulation lineup. Specific release dates and version details for the console edition are yet to be announced.
