Twenty-nine years after its release, a new discovery has emerged for the original PlayStation version of Tales of Destiny, launched in 1997. Kuraoka, the operator of a fan site for the series, revealed a method to recruit Lilith into the party within normal gameplay boundaries, although progressing further after she joins causes the main storyline to stall.
Lilith is the protagonist Stan's younger sister and was not an officially playable character in the original version. It was previously known that players could use the "Lilith glitch" to add her to the party in the original PlayStation release, but it wasn't until the 2006 PlayStation 2 remake that she was officially designed as a companion. This newly discovered method differs from traditional glitch exploitation; however, Kuraoka stated that the specific conditions have not been fully determined and the execution process is extremely complex.
Current findings indicate that this method only works on the original release. Players cannot pick up many items inside civilian houses, nor can they trigger companion warnings by going to the wrong location. Additionally, a series of conditions must be met to get the traveling merchant to start selling the "Silver Spoon." After purchasing the Silver Spoon and speaking with Lilith, she may join the party. However, once the party reaches Neustadt, the related events fail to trigger, causing the main story to become stuck.
If you save the game immediately after Lilith joins the party and then load that save file using the BEST edition, you can retain Lilith and continue playing. This discovery suggests that the original version still retains processes related to Lilith joining the party; however, there are currently no development materials available to confirm whether she was ever planned as an official party member.
