The Elder Scrolls VI Confirmed to Use Creation Engine 3! Continues to Emphasize Open-World Interaction Freedom

The Elder Scrolls VI has been confirmed to adopt Creation Engine 3, moving away from Creation Engine 2 used in Starfield. Bethesda continues to prioritize open-world freedom and systemic interaction as key development focuses for the title.

Bethesda studio head Todd Howard stated that the engine's role extends beyond graphical presentation; it must also support various systems within the open world, including allowing players to enter buildings, interact with objects, explore freely, and complete quests in different ways. The design team proposes complex requirements, while the technical team is responsible for finding implementation solutions.

Howard considers the feeling that "anything is possible" a long-standing hallmark of Bethesda's titles. However, Bethesda has not yet disclosed the specific upgrades in Creation Engine 3 item by item, so it is currently impossible to judge what standards the game's visuals, performance, or specific gameplay features will meet based on this information alone.

Fallout 5 has also been confirmed to use Creation Engine 3, with the technical groundwork laid for The Elder Scrolls VI carrying over to subsequent projects. At this stage, the official subtitle, setting, specific gameplay mechanics, and release date for The Elder Scrolls VI have not yet been revealed.
