Sony Has Not Yet Finalized PS6 Launch Date and Price! Will Continue to Assess Supply Situation

Sony has not yet decided on the release date and price for the next-generation PlayStation console. Sony President and CEO Hiroki Totoki stated that the company still needs to monitor the situation and will continue to assess supply and market conditions.

Hiroki Totoki also warned that the memory shortage is expected to last until Sony's fiscal year 2027, which runs from April 2027 to March 2028. Supply pressures on computer components driven by AI development could become a variable that next-generation hardware planning needs to address.

PlayStation consoles have typically been released at intervals of about six to seven years. The PS4 launched in 2013, and the PS5 in 2020, leading some to view 2027 as a potential window for the PS6. However, this timeframe is merely speculation based on historical cycles and is not an official release plan announced by Sony.

Claims that the PS6 might launch in 2028 or later are also analyses based on supply risks and should not be considered an official timeline. Sony is exploring various options, including changes to its business model, but this does not mean the company has delayed the PS6. What can be confirmed is that neither its release date nor price has been finalized.
