The technical test results for the Switch 2 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III have been released. The campaign runs at 30 FPS, competitive multiplayer targets 60 FPS, and the DMZ extraction mode can run at 40 FPS when connected to a 120Hz display. This marks the series' first appearance on a Nintendo console since the Wii U era.
Pre-rendered cutscenes in the campaign may experience stuttering, though similar issues exist on other platforms; actual gameplay generally maintains a stable 30 FPS. The 40 FPS performance in DMZ is also relatively stable, but the lower locked frame rate introduces some input lag. Online multiplayer occasionally drops into the 50 FPS range, and in severe cases falls to the high 40s, with additional latency potentially affecting combat performance.
The console mode offers two anti-aliasing options: the DLSS mode uses a dynamic 900p resolution, dropping to 450p in worst-case scenarios; the SMAA T2X mode targets a higher 1080p. Handheld mode uses a dynamic 720p resolution, which can drop as low as 360p during heavy loads.
Compared to other platforms, the Switch 2 version reduces close-range asset precision, reflection details, and shadow quality. Player characters in the campaign even lack shadows, and object pop-in as well as level-of-detail transitions are more noticeable. Despite these compromises, Digital Foundry still considers the port "well done," primarily because key content has been preserved, helping to maintain basic consistency for cross-platform multiplayer.
