Skyblivion Team Faces Over €30,000 Claim Threat Amid Code Dispute!

The Skyblivion team is facing a compensation threat of over €30,000 due to a dispute with a former volunteer over code usage. The project aims to remake The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion within The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Although it was close to announcing its release schedule, there is still no confirmed release date.

Rebelzize, one of the project leads, stated in a video that after the former volunteer left, both parties began negotiating whether their existing work could continue to be used and maintained. The disagreement mainly centered on decompilation: the former volunteer opposed the team decompiling parts of their work, while the team argued that decompilation was necessary to ensure the continued operation and troubleshooting of integrated systems after access to the original source code repository was revoked.

According to Rebelzize, the other party subsequently issued legal threats, demanding the real names and addresses of several volunteer team members and seeking over €30,000 in damages. Current information has not disclosed the identity of the former volunteer or their response, nor has it confirmed whether a lawsuit has been formally filed.

To protect its members and completely remove the disputed content, the team stated that it had deleted the volunteer's code, rebuilt the relevant systems from scratch, and improved them. However, legal threats are escalating, and the project is currently seeking assistance from professionals familiar with intellectual property law and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) via its official website.
