Square Enix has announced the physical tabletop party game "Final Fantasy XIV: The Investigator" and opened pre-orders. The store currently lists the price at $47.99, with a release or shipping window marked for March 2027. This product features characters from Final Fantasy XIV and is not a new expansion or digital game for the main title.
Once the game begins, one player must describe a specific character, while other participants race to identify the correct character from the character cards laid out on the table based on the clues. At the end of the game, the player with the most cards wins.
The set also includes a small hourglass to limit the time for each round of description and guessing. The gameplay focuses on identifying characters and testing participants' familiarity with Final Fantasy XIV figures, without employing complex tactical rules.
Square Enix is continuing to expand its Final Fantasy XIV merchandise line, with other items such as music boxes also available for pre-order in the store. The store page for "Final Fantasy XIV: The Investigator" currently lists the release or shipping date as March 2027.
