Seiko has launched the Prospex Alpinist GMT watch HBC007 with a green dial in the US, priced at $1,150. Consumers can purchase it through Seiko USA's online store and authorized dealers. This model is not a limited edition and has been added to the regular Prospex product lineup.
The HBC007 is the international version of the Japanese market model SBEJ005. The SBEJ005 was released on October 7, 2023, initially available only at Seiko Global Brand Core Shops in Japan. UK retailers previously offered pre-orders at £1,100, Australian boutiques listed it at AUD 1,800, and it is now gradually arriving at authorized retail channels in the US.
The watch features a 39.5mm stainless steel case with a lug-to-lug distance of 46.4mm, a thickness of 13.6mm, Seiko's Super Hard Coating on the surface, and water resistance up to 200 meters. The curved sapphire crystal glass has an anti-reflective coating on the inner side, and the see-through case back showcases the movement. It comes with a brown leather strap fitted to 20mm lugs and equipped with a stainless steel folding clasp.
The forest green sunburst dial is paired with gold cathedral-style hands and applied hour markers, featuring Arabic numerals at the 3, 6, 9, and 12 o'clock positions, and a date window without a magnifier at the 4:30 position. The hands and hour markers are coated with LumiBrite luminous material, while the gold GMT hand features a red arrow tip for reading time against the 24-hour scale on the fixed steel bezel; the crown at the 4 o'clock position is used to rotate the green internal compass ring.
The HBC007 is powered by the Caliber 6R54 automatic movement, which supports manual winding and hacking, operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour, features 24 jewels, and offers a power reserve of approximately three days. Its specified daily accuracy rate is +25 to -15 seconds, and the 24-hour hand can be adjusted independently. With this release, the HBC007 becomes the third standard dial color option in the international Alpinist GMT regular lineup.
