Pre-sale ticket sales for Avengers 5 are soaring, with the upcoming Marvel film poised to surpass a significant milestone: its box office revenue is set to exceed the total global earnings of Supergirl, the DC Universe's major flop.
According to Forbes, Avengers 5 has already generated over $125 million in pre-sales since tickets went on sale on August 14. Incredibly, this means its box office is about to surpass the global total of Supergirl, which was released this summer ($126 million). Given that two days have passed since the $125 million pre-sale figure was announced, it's highly likely that Avengers 5 has already far exceeded Supergirl's earnings.
As of September, pre-sales for Avengers 5 had exceeded $50 million, even though most IMAX theaters in various regions were only screening Dune 3 at the time. Of course, if you wish, you can also watch the film on Disney-certified Infinity Vision screens.
Following the Jonathan Majors scandal, Marvel Studios scrambled to adjust plans for Avengers 5, leading many to doubt its box office prospects. However, it is now an undeniable fact that Avengers 5 will be a huge success. Whether it can surpass the record-breaking box office of Spider-Man 4 remains another question.
Marvel fans got an extra taste of Avengers 5 highlights through the re-release of Avengers: Endgame. This re-release includes four new scenes, featuring a new ending with Loki's appearance, two mid-credit scenes (one revealing that Doom kidnapped Bruce Banner), and a post-credit scene that seems to connect Tony Stark and Victor Von Doom.
Avengers 5 will be released in the United States on December 18, and in the UK and China on December 16.
