Chiang posted a departure statement on LinkedIn titled “Clarity is Kindness.” She has worked at Microsoft for 27 years, with a significant portion of her experience tied to the Minecraft business, and left Xbox abruptly a few weeks ago.

Addressing speculation about the reasons for her departure, Chiang categorically denied leaking company secrets to the media, preparing to join a Microsoft competitor, or being involved in discrimination, bullying, harassment, insider trading, embezzlement, or other fraudulent activities. She also denied that her departure was related to failing to secure a higher position, stating that she had not interviewed for any roles since 2011 and that her most recent appointment was arranged by the company following a promotion in July, rather than being something she actively sought.

Chiang stated that she had hoped to continue contributing to Microsoft’s growth and rejected allegations regarding her competence, ambition, or any major scandal. She also raised serious concerns about how the company applied fairness and accountability standards in her case but did not disclose full details of the departure process. What can be confirmed is that Chiang has denied the allegations, and both parties have yet to reach an agreement on the facts.
