"The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake" will be released on Switch 2 on November 5th. The eShop listing reveals that the download version has a base size of 24.5GB, a huge difference compared to the original N64 version's mere 32MB cartridge. The increase in capacity is mainly due to high-definition textures, audio, and expanded scenes. It is recommended to reserve at least 25GB of storage space (the day-one patch will take up additional space).
Additionally, according to foreign media outlet Twisted Voxel, "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake" may have leaked early. Reddit user Robnaratt34 shared interface screenshots and gameplay footage from the early to mid-game, along with their playing experience.
According to Robnaratt34, "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake" features expanded area sizes and a complete overhaul of Kakariko Village's layout. Hyrule Field and Lake Hylia are now seamlessly connected, with the original partition gates removed and new buildings added to improve the sense of emptiness. NPCs have schedules and move autonomously across the map, offering a lifestyle feel similar to Breath of the Wild.
Combat controls have been optimized compared to the original version. Shield mechanics are now camera-bound, similar to Twilight Princess and Breath of the Wild. Jump attacks have been added, and voice acting has been comprehensively upgraded. The classic opening and main theme segments are all retained; the core puzzle framework remains unchanged, with supplementary optimizations made to plot text explanations.
