The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remastered for Switch 2, originally scheduled for release on November 5, has reportedly leaked early, with a small number of players receiving physical retail copies. Some recipients have begun posting game information on social media, showcasing differences between the remaster and the original 1998 N64 release.
Nintendo positions this title as a faithful remaster while adding several new features. The "Timeline" displays story progress and gradually fills in as quests are completed; players can also use the Switch 2's built-in microphone to hum melodies that Link can play on the ocarina.
In terms of visual design, the development team reportedly drew inspiration from puppetry and practical effects. Previews previously released by Nintendo show that the game runs at a stable 60 frames per second in both handheld and docked modes; the original N64 version ran at 20 fps, while The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D capped at 30 fps.
The Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 console, launched alongside the game, has already sold out. Nintendo is coordinating with retailers to restock.
With physical copies arriving early, more gameplay footage and spoilers may emerge before the official launch. Currently, only a small number of players are confirmed to have received retail physical copies, which does not mean the game has been officially unlocked or fully released ahead of schedule.
