The Elder Scrolls VI Story May Have Leaked: Are Players Not the Chosen One This Time?

Bethesda has confirmed the title of the next Elder Scrolls game as The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel. This news was revealed in a video reviewing Bethesda's glorious achievements over the past 40 years.

The only clue hinting at the plot direction is a quote following the title reveal. This quote is from Azar, a Moth Priest serving Queen Iradene of Hammerfell in the 4th Era, year 206: "The Scrolls reveal but a faint glimmer, like a veil gently lifted. A future lost. A victory ruined. Fate scatters the sands of time."

Two details stand out particularly: the Scrolls and Hammerfell. A recent report by The Verge suggested that The Elder Scrolls VI's story would take place in Hammerfell, focusing on the history of the Elder Scrolls and uncovering their secrets. Bethesda subsequently announced on social media that the game's location had been revealed, confirming that we are indeed heading to Hammerfell.

More notably, Bethesda stated that it will be "a while" before they share more information, so don't expect this announcement to mark the start of a formal marketing campaign or similar activities.

The Elder Scrolls VI was announced back in 2018, when Bethesda president Todd Howard admitted it wasn't his preferred timing. Since the first trailer, there has been almost no news about the game, including any footage, so we've seen that mountain range countless times over the past eight-plus years.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that most employees at Bethesda Game Studios are working on this game's development. Howard stated, "We know we have to get it right, and it's been a long time." The previous mainline entry, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, was released in 2011, meaning it will be over 15 years before the new installment launches.

After Bethesda officially announced the name of The Elder Scrolls VI, players discovered that someone on 4chan had accurately leaked the game's title and numerous plot details back in August this year. However, this doesn't rule out the possibility of AI-generated "fake leaks." Therefore, players can refer to these plot details but shouldn't take them as fact. Everythinggj should be based on official announcements.

Alleged Plot Leak for The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel: Is the Player Not the Chosen One This Time?

1. The game begins in the coastal city of Sentinel, which is currently controlled by the Forebears faction.

2. The player starts as a prisoner locked in a dungeon. Through the cell window, you can see a massive city facing the coastline, with an atmosphere very reminiscent of King's Landing from Game of Thrones.

3. Another prisoner in the opposite cell will ask the player a series of questions. By answering these, the player can determine their character traits, background, and class.

4. After nightfall, Sentinel comes under naval siege by the Crowns faction. They appear to be searching for someone.

5. Intense fighting breaks out outside the cells. This scene is very similar to the chaos occurring outside the prison while Jack was imprisoned in the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

6. Subsequently, an explosion blows open the wall of the player's cell. It turns out the Crowns attacked Sentinel specifically to find the player. They believe the player is the prophesied hero who can help them win the war, the so-called "Chosen One."

7. However, there is a twist. This might be the first time in The Elder Scrolls series' history that the player is actually not the chosen one from the prophecy. They arrested the wrong prisoner.

8. For most of the game, the player is believed to be the prophesied one. It isn't until late in the game that the player discovers the Crowns were actually targeting the prisoner in the opposite cell from the beginning. They grabbed the wrong person from the start.

9. Later in the game, a choice made by the player will determine whether they can meet and rescue the true prophesied figure.

If the player ultimately chooses to side with the Forebears, the true prophesied figure will remain imprisoned in Sentinel's dungeons throughout the game, barely participating in the story. Only if the player chooses to support the Crowns will they have more interaction with this character.
