"The Elder Scrolls VI" Confirmed to Take Place in Hammerfell! Reports Suggest Release Still Over Two Years Away

Bethesda has confirmed that the next installment in the series is officially titled The Elder Scrolls VI, set in the province of Hammerfell. However, the company has not yet announced a specific release date or window, nor confirmed which platforms the game will launch on.

Journalist Jason Schreier stated that The Elder Scrolls VI is still "more than two years away" from its final release. According to this estimate, even if development stays on track with current goals, the earliest possible launch window would be late 2028, with early 2029 considered more realistic. None of these dates have been officially confirmed by Bethesda.

Schreier also mentioned that he knows the specific timeframe Bethesda is currently targeting, but no official date or window has been made public. For now, the only confirmed details remain the game's subtitle and its Hammerfell setting.

Bethesda's recent development cycles for major single-player RPGs have been lengthy. Fallout 4 was released in 2015, and Starfield followed in 2023, an eight-year gap, with Bethesda still providing new content for Starfield.

The Elder Scrolls VI was announced back at E3 2018. If it finally launches around 2028, nearly a decade will have passed between the initial trailer reveal and its official release.
