On November 3, Derbyshire Police in the UK released a short video of a police chase styled after GTA 6. The police eventually intercepted the vehicle involved and made an arrest, with 28-year-old Jack Vickrage sentenced to 14 months in prison.
The video records the police chasing a black van through a residential area in Ripley. The clip incorporates game interface elements such as a three-star wanted level and a minimap that moves with the vehicle, accompanied by the song "Flower in a Hurricane" from the game's soundtrack.
Related guilty pleas include dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving under the influence of drugs, and possession of cannabis. The police also reminded the public that there were pedestrians and other vehicles in the residential area at the time, emphasizing that dangerous driving in real life cannot be justified by video games.
The police also joked about the upcoming release of GTA 6, noting that Vickrage would miss the launch date while in prison.
