Tips for Using Charged Skills in "Mist Hunter"

Charged skills in Mist Hunter are powerful tools, but using them requires caution. First and foremost, a charged skill is a commitment. During the cast, you are stationary and exposed, giving your opponent the exact opening they've been waiting for.

What to Watch Out for When Using Charged Skills in Mist Hunter

There are nine skills that require charging rather than being instant-cast: Crystal Ice Bolt, Wind Creation, Eye of Insight, Shadow Step, Scent Tracking, Healing Rune, Healing Word, Psionic Shield, and Death's Decree. Six of these belong to the Wizard or Seer, which basically sums up who pays the "interrupt tax" in this game.

A charged skill is a commitment. During the cast, you are stationary and exposed, giving your opponent the exact opening they've been waiting for. The solution isn't to avoid charged skills—Healing Word and Psionic Shield are core tools for the Seer—but to earn the window before spending it: break line of sight, charge behind teammates, or exploit the brief gap created by a successful recovery.

The Wizard has a structural exemption worth noting: when stamina is depleted, their skills can be cast quickly without chanting, and stamina still regenerates during this process. This is an intentional design for when resources run dry, not a penalty. Whether this cast is worth the risk essentially comes down to recovery and interruption mechanics; thinking from this perspective helps minimize lost casts.
