In its recent quarterly financial report, Crimson Desert developer Pearl Abyss revealed that its Pokémon-like monster-collecting RPG, Dokebi, is targeted for release in the second half of 2028. The game was first announced in 2019; if this plan proceeds as scheduled, nearly a decade will have passed from its announcement to its launch.
Pearl Abyss stated in its financial report that Dokebi's development is progressing smoothly. "The project has moved beyond the basic system construction phase and is currently in the process of expanding content creation and validating core gameplay loops." The team is filling out the game world map, verifying the systematic operation of various mechanics, and laying the groundwork for future base game content expansion—overall signaling positive development momentum.
To avoid premature exposure and expectation fatigue, Pearl Abyss stated it would learn from past experiences and not release large amounts of promotional content too early. According to the plan, the game's marketing campaign will officially start in the second half of 2027, with information released in stages and live gameplay demos provided. Before that, there are expected to be no major trailers or showcase events.
The previous internal plan was for Dokebi to launch about a year and a half after Crimson Desert. Based on the current target window, the development team will likely miss this milestone, but not by much.
Dokebi was first revealed in a vague form in 2019, with its first official trailer released at Gamescom 2021. Since then, information has been extremely limited. Now, with a clear release window and disclosed promotional schedule, this highly anticipated monster-collecting open-world game is finally showing substantial progress.
