Ubisoft has officially announced a new spin-off in the Rainbow Six universe today—Rainbow Six: Tactical Operations. This single-player turn-based strategy game will be available on PC and consoles, where players assume the role of "Six," the commander of Rainbow Six, leading a team of up to four elite operators.

The game features 15 unlockable operators, each with unique specialized skills, exclusive tactical gear, and individual skill progression trees. Players must carefully assemble their teams before missions, strategically pairing operators based on mission types and enemy intelligence.
According to Ubisoft's official description, the core experience revolves around a "Global Command – Tactical Execution" loop: players select missions and configure operators at headquarters, engage in turn-based matches to resolve conflicts, then return to base for personnel training, intelligence analysis, and enhancing Rainbow Six's overall combat capabilities in preparation for the next phase of operations.
Mission types cover a variety of classic counter-terrorism scenarios, including hostage rescue, bomb defusal, and target elimination. Players are required to plan meticulously before acting and adapt flexibly during combat. Environmental destruction is a key tactical element—players can demolish walls to create new lines of sight, remove enemy cover, or open additional entry points to shift the battlefield dynamics.
The game also introduces a "Breach" mechanic as a tactical highlight that decides the outcome of battles: this synchronized assault briefly breaks the turn-based rhythm, allowing all operators to coordinate a simultaneous strike into new areas unexpectedly. Combined with operator abilities and environmental destruction, it showcases Rainbow Six's signature explosive tactical style.
Developed by Ubisoft Paris, Rainbow Six: Tactical Operations is expected to launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms. The specific release date has not yet been announced.
