Touhou Project Annual Popularity Poll Results Released, 15-19 Age Group Emerges as Main Participants

The annual Touhou Project popularity poll recently released the age distribution of its participants. Among the total of 43,453 participants this year, the 15–19 age group accounted for 38.17%, representing the largest share across all age brackets.

Among other age groups, participants aged 20–24 accounted for 24.9%, those aged 10–14 made up 13.59%, and the 25–29 age group comprised 10.75%. These figures show that, despite the Touhou Project's 30-year history, the main participants in this year's voting remain concentrated among younger demographics.

A similar age trend was already observed in the survey conducted three years ago. This indicates that the high proportion of teenagers among Touhou Project voters is not a short-term change unique to this year.

Regarding how participants discovered the Touhou Project, YouTube ranked first at 42.69%, significantly higher than the second-place channel, "introduction by school peers," which accounted for 15.53%. Video platforms have thus become the primary entry point for younger participants to learn about the series.

Some Japanese netizens commented that early fans of the series are now mostly over 30, making them a minority among voters; others suggested that veteran players may not have left the community but simply no longer actively participate in popularity polls and other community events.
