Reports indicate that Crytek recently conducted layoffs at its Istanbul office and Frankfurt headquarters, resulting in at least 30 employees losing their jobs. The company has not yet issued an official statement, and the exact number of layoffs is still being confirmed.
The entire Quality Assurance (QA) team at the Istanbul office was reportedly laid off. Affected positions at the Frankfurt headquarters were mainly in publishing, social media, and game testing.
Employees received notifications regarding this matter in early September. Some employees described the decision as "unexpected," but Crytek has not yet disclosed the specific scope of these adjustments.
Crytek is renowned for the Crysis series and the CryEngine engine, and currently continues to operate the extraction shooter Hunt: Showdown 1896. An updated version of the game was released last year for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series platforms.
This is not the first time Crytek has adjusted its organizational scale. The company closed several overseas departments in 2016 and laid off approximately 15% of its workforce in 2023.
