The debate over whether AI will replace human jobs has been ongoing. As this technology continues to evolve rapidly, more and more people are growing concerned about the potential impact AI could have on the future. Recently, a former Anthropic researcher stepped forward with a warning, stating that AI could pose a threat to all of humanity.
Former Anthropic researcher Jacon Coxon stated that by the end of this century, AI systems could become powerful enough to even threaten human survival.
This researcher previously collaborated with OpenAI. He believes that both companies are rapidly advancing toward superintelligence. Coxon stated that those involved in AI development are well aware of the threats this technology could pose to all of humanity.
He believes that AI could soon gain the ability to infiltrate any system and even acquire real power within a very short time. Coxon ultimately warned that AI could even lead to human extinction in the future.
"The people building AI genuinely believe that by the end of this century, AI could kill us all."
Interestingly, Evan Hubinger, Anthropic's Head of Alignment Science, also joined the discussion and agreed with Jacon Coxon's views. He stated that there is more than a 10% chance of this scenario ultimately coming true.
Hubinger believes that what truly warrants everyone's concern is superintelligence. In the future, AI's ability to learn autonomously and improve itself could reach unprecedented levels, resulting in behavior completely unlike anything humans have ever seen before.
Nowadays, an increasing number of people are calling on these AI companies to take necessary safety measures to prevent these predictions from becoming reality.
