"Street Fighter" Movie: Chun-Li Actress Trained Glutes So Intensely Stunt Double Needed Padding to Match

The creators of the new Street Fighter movie have revealed surprising details about Karina Liang's preparation for the role of Chun-Li. The actress developed her leg and glute muscles to such an extent that her stunt double had to use special padding in action scenes to match her physique.

Director Sakurai Kitao discussed this during a meeting with journalists. According to him, he once noticed Liang's stunt double and was surprised by what she was wearing. It turned out that the padding was used to visually replicate the results of the actress's training. Liang herself had previously revealed that, to embody Chun-Li, she trained for two hours a day, practicing Taekwondo, Muay Thai, and martial arts, and ate up to 12 eggs a day during her bulking phase. As a result, her thigh circumference increased by approximately 6.5 centimeters.

The actress also studied Chun-Li's moves from the Street Fighter game series, recording them on her phone to bring the iconic character to the big screen as accurately as possible. The Street Fighter movie will be released in theaters on October 16, 2026.
