Professor Layton and the New World of Steam Launches on Consoles and PC on December 10

Level-5 has confirmed that Professor Layton and the New World of Steam will be released on December 10, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PS5, and PC. The game will also feature multilingual localization support, including Simplified Chinese.

First announced in February 2023, this is a new entry in the Professor Layton series. Set one year after the events of Professor Layton and the Last Time Travel, Luke and Professor Layton reunite in the American city of Steam Buffalo City to investigate a new mystery together.

Steam Buffalo City thrives on steam technology. The puzzles players solve directly shape the city's appearance, with the urban landscape evolving as puzzle-solving progresses, creating a connection between exploration and puzzle challenges.

Level-5 stated that this installment features the largest number of puzzles in the series to date, with educational entertainment group QuizKnock invited to participate in their design. The game will also include 3D environments, a world map, a coin radar system, and new companion characters.

In terms of controls, all versions except the Nintendo Switch edition will support mouse input. The theme song is a collaboration between composer Joe Hisaishi and singer-songwriter Ikura Lilas.
