In a recent interview with the Japanese media outlet Famitsu, Atsushi Iuchi, project lead for Dead or Alive 6: Last Stand, addressed fans' expectations for new costumes. Many players hoped to see more revealing and sexy outfits in the game. Iuchi acknowledged that the team understands this desire but intentionally chose a different direction. According to him, overly sexy costumes are rarely used in competitive games because players feel embarrassed. Even in ranked matches, opponents seldom appear in swimwear.
He stated, "I understand that some people expect sexy costumes, but in reality, due to factors like shyness, such outfits have low usage rates in competitive games. For example, even in ranked matches, your opponents rarely wear swimwear. Our goal is to create costumes that players who love these characters will use consistently, so sexy elements are naturally kept very restrained."
Compared to the original Dead or Alive 6, the development team also changed their overall approach to costumes. Previously, they aimed to release large batches of generic outfits for many characters at once. In Last Stand, however, each new costume must be regarded as a complete alternative look for a specific fighter, rather than just another item in the collection. The interview, published on September 10, 2026, also covered the new character "Minato" and the community's reaction to the game's release.
