After nearly 30 years, Leonard and his companions return to the continent of Falusion, restarting their adventure story intertwined with empire, mercenaries, and fate, featuring completely recreated characters, scenes, battle interfaces, and game presentations.
To celebrate the official game launch, from September 10, 2026, to September 24, purchasing Legend of Fantasy War: Remastered on Steam will grant a limited-time 10% launch discount. The official launch trailer has also been released, allowing players to quickly browse main characters, tactical RPG gameplay footage, and full version content.
Additionally, following the launch, player creation-related activities will be rolled out successively, inviting players to participate in creation through stage concepts, battlefield designs, Steam Workshop, and other forms. The development team has also disclosed future update plans; the currently developing additional DLC is expected to be provided as a free update to expand post-launch game content.
■ The Classic Unconventional Tactical RPG Returns – Embark on the Continent of Falusion Today
Released in 1998, Legend of Fantasy War depicted the story of mercenary Leonard and his companions accidentally becoming entangled in the affairs of the continent of Falusion, featuring tactical strategy, character development, class change systems, multiple storylines, and hidden exploration.
This remake is based on the original game's worldview and storyline, featuring completely recreated characters, scenes, battle interfaces, and game presentations. Controls and some system designs have been adjusted to suit modern gaming habits.
In battle, players must not only master character abilities, skill combinations, and positioning but also strategize using terrain, party composition, and different class traits. Classic elements from the original game, such as consecutive kills, character class changes, hidden treasures, special merchants, and side quest exploration, have been retained.
The full version also adds new side storylines, special battles, character costumes, and content such as the "Beacon Domain Arena" that appeared in the Steam Demo, allowing players familiar with the classic version to encounter more gameplay experiences different from the original when embarking on their adventure journey again.
Furthermore, the full version includes the classic 1998 edition of Legend of Fantasy War. Players can launch it directly from the main game, allowing them to revisit the classic content while experiencing the fully remade version.
■ Player Creation Event Coming Soon – Supporting Steam Workshop
With the official launch of the game, the official team will also launch player creation-related activities, inviting both new and old players to express their creativity regarding characters, stories, and tactical gameplay in various ways.
The event is expected to have different participation formats. Even without MOD-making experience, players can submit videos proposing battle content they wish to challenge.
Players can set stage backgrounds, win/loss conditions, enemy deployments, and special rules, exercising their creativity in tactical gameplay and battlefield design.
Selected entries are also planned to be showcased and introduced through official community channels, encouraging more players to participate in discussions.
In conjunction with the previously announced Steam Workshop support plan, the official team is also launching a Workshop Creation Challenge, inviting players familiar with relevant tools to create content that can be applied directly within the game.
The actual features and scope of creation for the Workshop will be disclosed according to development progress. Selected works will also be further introduced through official communities and the Steam Workshop.
Event timing, submission eligibility, work guidelines, selection criteria, and rewards will be officially announced in subsequent updates. Interested players are encouraged to follow the official Legend of Fantasy War: Remastered Facebook page, Steam Community, and other platforms for the latest event information and complete participation details. ■ Future Additional Content to Be Released Free of Charge – DLC Under Development
After the official launch, the development team will continue to invest in creating new content.
Most importantly: Subsequent DLC releases will definitely be provided as free updates to all players who own the game—no additional payment required.
The DLC will provide story content not present in the previous works. Which characters, plots, and stages will be included is still under development and adjustment. Once confirmed, we will share the details with players immediately.
Additionally, the previously announced Steam Workshop feature is still under development. We hope to provide players with a space for free creation and sharing beyond the official release content.
Details regarding DLC, Steam Workshop, and other update plans will be disclosed sequentially according to development progress. Thank you for your attention and support. The development team will continue to strive to present richer content.
■ Responding to Player Feedback from the Demo – Comprehensive Optimization of Controls and Combat Experience in the Full Version
During the Steam Demo period for Legend of Fantasy War: Remastered, we continuously collected player feedback and made adjustments regarding control convenience, interface, music/sound effects, and game difficulty. The full version adds a "Dialogue Log" feature, allowing players to review the last 100 dialogue entries and replay voice lines; it also includes quick operations such as F1 for Quick Save and F2 for Quick Load/AutoSave. The previous 2x speed function, which required holding Ctrl, has been changed to a toggle button. Players can now directly open menus, load saves, or use the rewind function during enemy turns, making battlefield operations smoother.
Regarding interface and gameplay information, the warehouse and shop now feature drag-and-drop sorting and inventory management functions. Special mission rewards have improved recognizability through icons and visual effects. During battles, skill names are displayed directly when magic is cast by either side, making it easier for players to grasp the situation.
Additionally, players can freely switch between "New" and "Old" BGM in the settings to relisten to the classic soundtrack from the original. Some original sound effects have also been restored, and the playback method for battle voices during multi-hit attacks has been adjusted. To cater to different player needs, the full version simultaneously opens a high-difficulty "Nightmare" mode, while also lowering the difficulty of some early stages and providing initial recovery items, ensuring that both newcomers to the series and veteran players seeking challenges can find a gameplay pace that suits them best.
