The remaster update for "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" will adjust the movement behavior of the horse Roach, while retaining a toggle for the legacy mode. Players who prefer the original Roach can disable the changes and continue using the familiar behavior patterns.
The adjustments also affect the "From the Ashes" DLC. Karolina Kuzia, Design Director at Fool's Theory, who worked on the DLC, commented on Roach's previous quirky behavior, stating that there was no need to completely discard these more lighthearted and amusing traits.
Miles Tost, Lead Level Designer at CD Projekt Red, later confirmed that the remaster update improves Roach's movement behavior. However, these changes will not forcibly replace the original design; the development team has provided an option to switch between the old and new behavior modes.
In the original game, Roach would occasionally stop at doorways or appear in illogical positions, behaviors that gradually became part of the character's distinctive charm. Tost stated that if players prefer the classic Roach, they can simply disable the new movement behavior.
