Switch 2 Firmware Update Adds VRR Support in Docked Mode

The Nintendo Switch 2 recently received an update that adds VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) support for docked mode.

Switch 2固件更新 底座模式下支持VRR功能

In today's 23.0.0 update, Nintendo explained that VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) is now available as long as both your TV and the game support it. Players simply need to update the firmware of their Switch 2 dock and then enable VRR in the "Display" settings.

If you're not familiar with what VRR does, in short, it keeps your game's frame rate synchronized with the refresh rate of your TV or monitor. When they are out of sync, the console constantly adjusts the refresh rate, which can cause visible issues like screen tearing or stuttering. Therefore, theoretically, enabling VRR should reduce screen tearing and stuttering.

This update also brings several other nice additional features to the Switch 2.

The "Full Data Transfer" feature now supports transfers between two Switch 2 consoles. This means if you want to upgrade to a newer Switch 2 model, or if you broke your current Switch 2 while raging at a boss in Elden Ring and want to keep your save data, you can now easily transfer your saves to the new console.

Switch 2 users can now play background music in the Mii Editor interface by pressing a button in the top-left corner of the screen to toggle or stop playback.
