Recently, TVB's anniversary drama "City of Splendor" sparked controversy due to its numerous sexy scenes. Subsequently, 35-year-old former TVB actress Luo Yinming posted a long article on social media, indirectly criticizing the series for using "flesh" as a promotional tactic, calling it extremely vulgar.
Luo Yinming strongly urged female artists on social media to bravely "Say NO to bad scripts."She believes that if a series relies solely on female bodies as its main selling point, it lacks professionalism and causes the audience to overlook the plot.
She cited classic films like "Titanic" to discuss the relationship between plot and nudity, pointing out that for professional actresses, overcoming psychological barriers isn't just about "exposure," but about weighing whether it's worth using their bodies to serve the character: "This is the difference between artistic nudity and vulgar showmanship. Good directors use the body to tell a story; bad shots are just to satisfy personal desires."
According to actress Zhang Xiwen, who revealed details related to the scene, the script initially only required her to wear underwear. However, during filming, producer Chen Weiguan and others added last-minute demands, requiring her to perform in a single continuous take, stripping down to just her panties. The three said to her: "When the time comes, you take off your clothes, we'll film your bare back, you'll only wear panties, in one continuous take, no camera tricks or editing. Are you OK with that?"
Zhang Xiwen was shocked and immediately refused: "No, I don't think that's acceptable, I won't do it! I won't film it. You edit the shots yourselves, I won't do it in one continuous take." She was unhappy that the crew discussed adding scenes without involving her. Due to her refusal to yield, the production had to halt for three months to revise the script.
After filming resumed, the explicit scene was brought up again during a dinner gathering. Ultimately, under emotional coercion, Zhang Xiwen reluctantly agreed. She spent nearly three hours rehearsing blocking and personally completed the seven-minute scene.
