Wardogs, a large-scale FPS developed by BULKHEAD and published by Team17, launched into Early Access on Steam on September 11. Shortly after release, its peak concurrent player count surpassed 337,000.
This data comes from the third-party database SteamDB and is not an official Steam statistic. Before its Early Access launch, Wardogs held a test phase where the peak concurrent player count on Steam reached 245,000; this number has since risen further following the official start of Early Access.
Wardogs supports up to 100 players competing in the same match. Players are divided into three teams, vying for dynamically generated control zones across a 256-square-kilometer battlefield.
In addition to direct combat, players can pilot helicopters to transport supplies and support their teammates, or establish forward bases in strategic locations. Different roles can all influence the outcome of the battle, allowing players to help their team achieve victory through combat, transportation, and base construction.
The developers are also hosting a gameplay clip contest with a total prize pool of $100,000. Submissions close on October 9. The top 100 entries selected by the judges will win prizes: the first-place winner will receive $100,000 in cash, while the remaining 99 winners will each receive 100,000 in-game currency.
Currently, Wardogs is available exclusively on Steam, priced at 4,980 JPY, with DLCs including weapon skins also on sale. The developers also confirmed in the launch trailer that PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are planned for release in 2028.
