Hookshot Officially LaunchesPC gaming website Steam Hype. Aimed at PC players who want to keep up with new releases, the site features games manually curated by an editorial team, providing news, reviews, guides, and regular recommendations.
Dominic Tarason, editor at Steam Hype, noted that over 100 games are often released on Steam every day, making it difficult for players to pick out titles worth paying attention to. The site will focus on games that gradually build up hype before their official release, as well as introduce sudden new indie game arrivals.
Although Steam Hype has just officially launched, the team has been preparing for several months. Initial content includes introductory and listicle articles catering to different genres, including a five-part series covering classic computer RPGs, action RPGs, Japanese RPGs, and old-school dungeon crawlers. The site also features a special section on retro first-person shooters.
Review content will gradually increase, focusing mainly on titles with unique styles or relatively limited attention. Currently listed games include the first-person shooter Twisted Tower, which evokes the style of the PS3 and Xbox 360 era, and the new retro horror adventure game Endacopia.
The site will also revisit PC games that had a rough launch but have improved through continuous development, citing the mech tactical game Phantom Brigade as one example. Additionally, Steam Hype has compiled a growing list of PC-exclusive games, featuring over 100 titles.
Steam Hype is the latest website under Hookshot, joining Nintendo Life, Push Square, Pure Xbox, and Time Extension to cover various gaming platforms and the retro gaming sector. As a site dedicated to PC gaming, Steam Hype will continue to publish news on new releases, version updates, and mods, along with weekly roundups and monthly must-play lists.
