Recently, KING Art Games released a battle report demo for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV, showcasing high-level 1v1 Annihilation, 2v2 Team Domination, 2v2 Co-op vs AI, and other multiplayer modes. The game has been delayed to December 3rd for release, launching with four factions: Space Marines, Orks, Necrons, and Adeptus Mechanicus.

This battle report features an internal match between developers: Creative Director Jan Theysen plays as the Orks against Orvie Thumel, the game's top internal player and former Dawn of War II commentator, who leads the Necrons. It is a full 1v1 Annihilation match. The demonstration showcases more Necron unit compositions and previously unrevealed late-game capabilities, while also revealing customizable match settings. Based on community feedback, the development team has modified and optimized the Necrons' core mechanic, the "Power Matrix," and improved the readability of battlefield UI information.
The Power Matrix is central to the Necrons: they spread a matrix network to gain "Dominion" resources. Units within the matrix receive armor and out-of-combat health regeneration bonuses, but the "Dominion Nexus" structures used for expansion are fragile and vulnerable to sneak attacks by mobile forces.
Schedule for the next two battle reports:
1. September 16: 2v2 "Team Domination" mode, featuring all four launch factions competing for map control points.
2. September 23: First reveal of 2v2 Team Skirmish, where two developers team up to face high-difficulty AI, highlighting the Commander system, team coordination, and tactical adaptability.
These three battle reports focus on multiplayer PVP/PVE gameplay, showcasing large-scale late-game battles and high-level tactical maneuvering. The official statement indicates that these demos represent significant content disclosures following the delay, which was intended for bug fixes and performance optimization. The subsequent annual update plan has been postponed to spring/summer 2027. The game's campaign supports single-player and two-player co-op, featuring over 70 campaign missions, and the classic "Last Stand" mode is confirmed to return.
