Valve has announced the pricing for the Steam Frame VR headset and opened pre-registration. The device is available in two storage variants, 256GB and 1TB, priced at $1059 and $1299 respectively.
Both versions come with a pair of controllers and the game Half-Life: Alyx. The included controllers feature traditional gamepad buttons while also supporting motion input, making them suitable for VR games as well as titles using standard control schemes.
Steam Frame runs on SteamOS 3, allowing it to run games independently or stream games from a PC's Steam library. Valve positions it as a high-end gaming device that caters to both VR and traditional gaming.
The standard package does not include a dedicated power adapter, but the headset is compatible with the Steam Deck charger or equivalent 45W USB-C chargers. A dedicated power adapter for Steam Frame, an ergonomic accessory kit, and a replacement accessory kit will be offered separately as optional purchases.
Currently, only pre-registration is open, not direct purchase. According to the current schedule, users who complete registration may receive purchase invitation emails starting September 18. Actual purchase eligibility is subject to notifications from Valve.
