Addressing speculation surrounding the cast, Root gave a definitive answer: "Yes, you will see me in it." He also expressed his excitement about participating in the game, describing the final product as impressive.

Root has appeared in the film Get Out and the HBO series Barry, and has extensive voice acting experience. He revealed that his character may have already appeared in early publicly released content, with many viewers recognizing him due to his distinctive voice.

Root did not confirm his character's identity. Players have long speculated that he might be voicing Brian Hurd, but this theory has not been verified by either Root or Rockstar Games. Official descriptions portray Brian as an old-school drug trafficker active during the golden age of smuggling, who still transports goods through his shipyard.

In the extended showcase for Grand Theft Auto VI, Lucia and Jason were seen going out for drinks with Brian and his third wife, Lori. However, it remains unclear whether this scene is connected to the character voiced by Root.

Root stated that the latest release date he is aware of is November 19. Grand Theft Auto VI will launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with more details about the cast and characters yet to be announced by Rockstar Games.
