Diablo IV version 3.2.1 is now live on all platforms, launching Season 15 "Legacy of Hell." This update adds a new seasonal questline, Soul Shards, and balances all classes.
The new questline revolves around the three Prime Evils: Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto. Players must defeat their echoes in the Cathedral of Tristram, Mount Arreat, and the Prison of Hatred to collect three Evil Fragments, then choose the power of one Prime Evil to increase Renown through the corresponding War Plan.
The season adds eight types of Soul Shards, associated with Andariel, Azmodan, Belial, Duriel, Lilith, Nah-Kruul, Skarn, and the Dark Soulstone. Characters can equip up to three shards simultaneously, each providing an ability but also increasing vulnerability to the corresponding Prime Evil. Shards can also be upgraded using the Horadric Cube.
"Lucid Nightmare" events are based on classic scenes from Diablo's 30-year history, featuring multi-layer pinnacle dungeons, standard dungeons, and small boss fights in the open world. At Torment difficulty 10 and above, players can challenge higher-level pinnacle versions.
War Plan Renown can now be shared among characters on the same account, but each character retains its own plan and allocation choices. The update also adds a Character Rebirth feature, allowing Eternal Realm characters to convert into Level 1 Seasonal characters while retaining class, name, appearance, status, cosmetics, and cumulative playtime. Equipment must be unequipped before conversion.
Regarding equipment, nine classic-style Unique items will be permanently added to the game, including Messerschmidt's Reaver and the Stone of Jordan. New magical crafting recipes allow transferring original affixes, tempering, and masterwork results to Mythic versions, but characters can only equip one item with the "Crafted" tag at a time.
Version 3.2.1 also includes extensive class adjustments. Barbarian strength damage scaling, two-handed sword bleeding bonuses, and several Paragon damage effects have been nerfed; Druid willpower damage scaling has been increased, along with improvements to Human Form resource generation, Grizzly Rage, and several Unique items. The patch also fixes numerous issues related to Soul Shards, Charms, loot filters, transmogrification, and "Lucid Nightmares."

Season Features
Confront the Three Prime Evils in the Seasonal Questline
In the Chaos Realm, the dead swarm forth, and the spirit of the legendary Horadrim Deckard Cain returns with dire news. The three Dark Wanderers have reappeared, leaving trails of corpses in their wake. Confront them, dive into their haunting nightmares, defeat the tormenting Prime Evils, and bring peace to their suffering souls.
Complete the seasonal questline by defeating the echoes of Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto beneath the Cathedral of Tristram, atop Mount Arreat, and within the Prison of Hatred, respectively, to collect three Spikes of Evil. Choose the demonic power you wish to wield, accumulate Renown in the activity corresponding to that spike, and unlock affixes and upgrades through the War Plan. If you wish to change paths, simply return to the largest Lucid Nightmare and swap the spike in your hand.
Equipping a Spike of Evil turns you into a Dark Wanderer. In combat, the demonic power contained within the spike will occasionally erupt—Diablo corresponds to Fire damage, Baal to Cold damage, and Mephisto to Physical damage. This power grants you strength but also makes you more vulnerable to the corresponding Prime Evil. Remember: what you hunt also hunts you in the dark.
Each Renown path unlocks 8 activity affixes and 6 Demonic Power upgrades:
Diablo's Spike of Fear applies to Helltides and Infernal Hordes
Baal's Spike of Destruction applies to the Dark Citadel and Hive Bosses
Mephisto's Spike of Hatred applies to the Abyss and Nightmare Dungeons
All three apply to the Whispering Tree
Although you can only carry one Spike of Evil at a time, spikes can be swapped. If you wish to change your Renown path for another Prime Evil and claim corresponding rewards, simply return to the largest Lucid Nightmare to swap your spike.
Face Classic Foes in Lucid Nightmares
Lucid Nightmares offer three types of encounters, recreating memories and nightmares from major events in Diablo's history. These scenes and gameplay will feel familiar to veteran players, but Everythinggj has been completely remastered for Diablo IV: visuals are refreshed, and combat has been redesigned.
The largest Lucid Nightmares are multi-layer Keystone Dungeons, recreating the epic battles against the three Prime Evils. You will first encounter these dungeons in the seasonal questline, and can later challenge them repeatedly at Torment difficulties for rewards. Like all Keystone Dungeons, their difficulty is fixed. At Torment X and above, they open as Pinnacle Keystones, offering higher risk and greater rewards.
The second type of Lucid Nightmare consists of standard dungeons, recreating classic scenes from previous Diablo games, such as The Den of Evil from Diablo II. Like regular dungeons, they are scattered across the world in fixed locations.
The third type of Lucid Nightmare is the smallest, appearing suddenly in the open world. Upon entering, a single-room encounter begins immediately: opponents may be former bosses, such as the giant spider queen Arania, or waves of classic monsters, such as dagger-wielding Flayers.
Equip Deceptive Soul Spikes
Soul Spikes are gems unique to the Legacy of Hell season, each closely linked to a powerful demon or ancient artifact. Derived from demonic power, they offer potent boons but come with a price. You can equip up to three Soul Spikes in your jewelry slots.
Spike of Pain (Andariel)
Spike of Sin (Azmodan)
Spike of Lies (Belial)
Dark Soulstone Spike
Spike of Agony (Duriel)
Spike of the Mother (Lilith)
Spike of Hellfire (Nah-Kruul)
Spike of Punishment (Skarn)
Spikes drop in Magic, Rare, Legendary, and Unique qualities. You can use the Fusion recipe in the Horadric Cube to combine multiple spikes of the same type and rarity to upgrade to the next higher quality.
Endgame Updates
Shared War Plan, Shared Progression
Since the introduction of the War Plan in Vessel of Hatred, players have hoped to share earned War Plan Renown points across characters. Starting with the Legacy of Hell season, War Plan points earned on one character will be shared among other characters on the same account and realm, divided into the following three categories:
Eternal / Seasonal
Non-Hardcore / Hardcore
Normal / Solo Self-Found
War Plan progress can be shared between two characters on the same account only if their status in these three realms is identical. For example, two characters both in Seasonal Non-Hardcore Non-Solo Self-Found mode can share, but if one character is in Solo Self-Found mode, they cannot share.
Each character participating in shared progression has its own planning panel, allowing independent point allocation, similar to shared Skill Points and Paragon Points. Although Renown levels and progress are shared, each character can independently plan their stat distribution to suit their own goals and try different builds.
War Plan progress for Season 14 characters will transfer to Eternal Mode during the season transition on September 16. War Plan Renown points accumulated by all characters in the same realm will transfer to the corresponding Eternal character, consolidating into your total War Plan progress.
Hardcore players take note: War Plan point transfer is limited to characters still alive at the end of Season 14. Hardcore characters who die before the season transition will not have their points carried over to Season 15. Only living characters can transfer progress; points from deceased characters are not inherited.
Starting in Season 15, if you want the War Plan progress of a deceased Hardcore character to transfer to Eternal at the end of the season, you must have another living Hardcore character in the same realm—even if it's just a level 1 "bank alt." When that character transfers to Eternal, the accumulated points will also transfer to your Eternal Hardcore War Plan progress.
Mythic Unique Crafting Update: Customize at Will
The methods for crafting Mythic Uniques remain unchanged, but the outcomes are more deterministic.
Mythic Uniques can be crafted in three ways:
Horadric Cube: Directly upgrade items to Mythic
Jeweler: Rune Crafting > Mythic Unique
Blacksmith: Forge > Mythic Cache
The Horadric Cube directly upgrades items to Mythic status. The cost is higher than recipes at the Blacksmith or Jeweler, but it achieves a perfect 1:1 transfer. As the name suggests, it directly upgrades to Mythic status with no randomness. Insert a Dibot's Will with ideal affixes, tempering, and masterwork tuning, and you will receive a Mythic version of Dibot's Will retaining all affixes and modifications.
The only restriction is that this recipe cannot be used on items marked "Unmodifiable." Therefore, be careful not to transmute your precious Mythic Unique candidate gear!
Mythic Uniques crafted via the Horadric Cube's "Direct Upgrade" recipe will have the "Crafted" tag. You can only equip one item with the "Crafted" tag, and only Mythic Uniques made with this recipe will have this tag.
Mythic Uniques obtained through Jeweler Rune Crafting or Blacksmith Mythic Unique Caches will not have the "Crafted" tag. Although "Direct Upgrade" occupies the single "Crafted" tag slot, you can still acquire multiple Mythic Uniques through drops and crafting to mix and match freely.
New Horadric Cube Recipes to Refine Your Gear
Season 15 adds two new recipes to the Horadric Cube, giving you more flexibility to handle unwanted affixes while preserving desired properties.
Affix Reroll: Rerolls all base affixes on gear and Charm items (Sigils and Seals), while preserving desired properties such as Greater Affixes, Enchanted Affixes, Tempered Affixes, and Transmuted Affixes (except for items marked "Unmodifiable" after transmutation).
Horadric Reroll: A second option for rerolling Sigils and Seals, with a few differences from the first. Applies to Legendary and higher quality Sigils and Seals, randomly rerolling all base affixes while keeping Set Bonuses and Unique/Mythic Sigil Powers intact. Unlike Affix Reroll, Horadric Reroll does not change the Sigil Set Bonus affixes on Seals—it only changes base affixes.
Classic Uniques
The Legacy of Hell season introduces nine classic Uniques, each drawn from relics of legend. Wield Messerschmidt's Reaver—the axe said to be held by Prince Aidan when he first repelled Diablo; wear the legendary Stone of Jordan—a ring so coveted it was once used as currency; or safeguard Henry's Eternity Hunt—where a cat's curiosity collided with an ancient magical ritual, giving birth to this off-hand.
The following classic Uniques will debut in Season 15 and be permanently added to the game, available in both Seasonal and Eternal Realms. Items marked with an asterisk (*) can also be obtained as Unique Sigils.
All Classes:
Leoric's Crown (Helm)
*Vengeance Wraps (Gloves)
*Stone of Jordan (Ring)
*Squire's Tunic (Chest Armor - Squire's Necklace integrated into the chest armor)
Multi-class:

New Quality of Life Improvements
Horadric Mail Delivers Rewards
The Horadric Mail is a new way for the Diablo IV team to directly deliver rewards and messages to your account.
Horadric Mail will periodically deliver important messages containing rewards, supplies, and commemorative items.
This system is a one-way delivery, like a private mailbox from the ether.
Rebirth, continue your legacy
Rebirth converts an Eternal character to Seasonal status, moving them to the Seasonal Realm and resetting them to Level 1. At the start of each season, you no longer need to create a new character; simply select an Eternal character to continue your adventure in the Seasonal Realm. The character's cumulative playtime from previous rebirths is also retained.
Rebirth retains the following:
Class, Name, Appearance, and Status (Normal or Hardcore)
If saved as a cosmetic loadout, appearance preferences such as transmogs and dyes, mounts and accessories, pets, portals, and tombstones can also be transferred together.
Before using Rebirth, move all equipment and items from the character to the Eternal Realm stash. A warning will appear before confirming Rebirth: any items remaining on the character will be lost. You can choose to unequip all items first or destroy them directly. Only after clearing all items from the character's equipment slots and inventory can you use Rebirth.
