PlayStation has officially unveiled its next-generation PS5 audio products: the PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset and the Pulse Edge Wireless Headset. The two products will roll out to select markets in phases, with the Pulse scheduled to launch first during the 2026 holiday season, followed by the Pulse Edge in early 2027.
Both headsets utilize custom planar magnetic drivers, focusing on improved sound separation and spatial positioning accuracy. Compared to the Pulse Elite released in 2024, the new products feature larger planar magnetic drivers, enhancing bass performance while maintaining sound clarity.
PlayStation Link connection provides lossless, ultra-low-latency audio and allows the headsets to switch between compatible devices, including the PS5 console, PlayStation Portal remote player, PC, and Mac. Both headsets can also connect simultaneously to supported Bluetooth devices.
For voice functionality, both products feature built-in microphones with background noise filtering. The headset design has been refined with a focus on comfort for extended wear and durability; the rotatable earcups can fold flat for easy portability. Both products are available in White and Midnight Black.
The higher-end Pulse Edge adds several features, with planar magnetic drivers that have twice the magnet volume of the Pulse for deeper bass. This model also supports active noise cancellation and comes with a detachable boom microphone; even with the boom removed, users can still use the hidden microphone for voice chat.
The Pulse Edge uses higher-spec materials and includes a portable carrying case to protect the headphones. PlayStation has not yet announced specific release dates, pre-order times, or prices for the two products; further launch information will be disclosed later.
