Mantic Games will launch the Kickstarter campaign for Plants vs. Zombies: The Board Game on October 14th. This cooperative game supports 1 to 4 players, recreating the original's plant defenses and zombie assaults through card gameplay.
Mantic Games describes it as a fast-paced cooperative board game that captures the comedic chaos of the Plants vs. Zombies series. Players must work together to tackle increasingly difficult levels, each with unique starting layouts, objectives, and zombie hordes.
The game centers around cards, each with its own unique effect. Plant cards include the Peashooter, which can launch attacks, and the Cherry Bomb, which explodes; tool cards include the Shovel and Lawn Mower—the former allows you to reposition your garden defenses, while the latter clears all zombies from a single lane.
When zombie cards are played, zombies advance toward the house, revealing their movement paths so players can set up defenses in advance. Players must play all zombie cards simultaneously, a rule that can rapidly change the situation within a single turn. If any zombie reaches the house, the players lose the game.
As you progress, you can unlock new plants, zombies, and challenges. Each new level introduces different types of zombies, requiring players to adjust their card strategies and garden defenses based on the updated layout and objectives.
Mantic Games is also preparing a deluxe edition featuring pre-assembled miniatures of popular plants and zombies. Additionally, the game will receive a standalone "Night Edition" expansion, adding more plants, zombies, and other content.
