Season 5 began filming on July 20, 2026, in Ontario, Canada. Lead actor Alan Ritchson has continued to share updates from the set, mentioning the local cold and snowfall in an August video, and revealing that he had to enter a turbulent river for one scene.

At the 2026 San Diego Comic-Con, during the "Reacher" and "Negley" panel, it was confirmed that Season 5 is adapted from the 20th novel in the series, "Make Me." In the book, Jack Reacher makes a brief stop at a train station in the small Midwestern town of "Mother's Rest," where he meets private investigator Michelle Chang and becomes entangled in a technology-related mystery while helping her find her missing partner.

The original story also involves global cybercrime, the dark web, and an investigation in Los Angeles. However, the series has not strictly adhered to the novels in the past, so the specific plot of Season 5 should be based on official announcements.

Photos shared by Alan Ritchson from the set show Reacher wearing a T-shirt with the words "Mother's Rest Volunteer Fire Department, Ontario." This suggests that the TV adaptation has moved the story location to Ontario, Canada, rather than the American Midwest as in the original novel.

In terms of cast, Alan Ritchson returns as Jack Reacher. Jay Baruchel will play Sheriff Buck Paul, Kevin Durand plays Knox, Amanda Yip plays Michelle Chang, and Serayah Blount plays Eunice. Season 5 is still in production, and Prime Video has not yet confirmed a premiere date.
