As of the latest statistics, Fire Emblem: Threads of Fate has accumulated 60 media reviews, with 15 of them awarding perfect scores according to their respective rating systems, including IGN and Eurogamer. The current three lowest scores are 7 out of 10.

This installment continues the series' tactical RPG gameplay and further expands upon the multi-route structure introduced in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. The story is now driven by four protagonists, resulting in a larger overall scale compared to its predecessor.

Freelance writer Alan Wen gave the game a four-star rating (out of five). He believes that the game expands on the multi-route framework of Fire Emblem: Three Houses on a larger scale, with engaging story and combat, but the numerous miscellaneous tasks slow down the overall pacing.

Based on currently collected media scores, Fire Emblem: Threads of Fate has not yet surpassed Fire Emblem: Awakening's score of 92, but it has tied with Fire Emblem: Three Houses, temporarily placing it in a joint second position within the series.
