Bloodborne Director: Sequel May Not Include Time-Limited Mechanics

Blood of Dawnwalker has launched on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Within just a few days of its release, sales surpassed 1 million copies, earning widespread critical acclaim. Although the game had some flaws at launch, its overall review status on Steam has now reached "Very Positive."

《黎明行者之血》总监:续作可能不会包含计时机制

Even fans who love the game have expressed some dissatisfaction, with the main point of contention being the controversial time-limit mechanic announced at launch. While some players felt the mechanic was harmless, the most popular mod on the game's release day was one that removed the timer.

Rebel Wolves studio is currently working on a sequel. When asked by Eurogamer whether the time-limit mechanic would return in the next installment, Game Director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz stated, "To be honest, we haven't decided yet."

"We will continue to refine this mechanic. If a particular storyline or even the overall tone of the story suits this mechanism, we will adopt it. If the story doesn't fit, we won't force it in. We aim to polish this system and use it to enhance the sense of urgency in certain game events. However, this doesn't mean every title we produce will follow the same mechanics or loop—that's not our approach."

This statement is undoubtedly good news for players who strongly dislike the time-limit mechanic, but it doesn't mean the studio will play it safe. "We are also brainstorming and researching bold new ideas, hoping to create different RPGs in the future and surprise players."

It's too early to speculate on what these new ideas might be. For now, Rebel Wolves is focused on optimizing Blood of Dawnwalker, fixing various bugs, and improving performance. The developers had planned to release free expansion content after launch, but the director has not yet revealed a specific roadmap.
