"Danganronpa 2x2" High Recommended Specs Target Native 4K, Will Be Revised for 1080p Scenarios

The previously announced PC recommended specifications for Danganronpa 2x2 targeted native 4K and high-quality settings, making them significantly higher than those typical for visual novels. Producer Shohei Sakakibara confirmed that the official specifications will be revised before the game's release to better align with common 1080p usage scenarios.

The original recommended configuration included an Intel Core i7-14700 processor, 32GB of RAM, and either an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 or AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT graphics card. Since the game primarily consists of text, 2D illustrations, and some modeled scenes, these hardware requirements raised questions among players upon announcement.

Players also compared it with major 3D titles such as Cyberpunk 2077, Alan Wake 2, and Gears of War: E-Day. For reference, the recommended configuration for high-quality graphics in Cyberpunk 2077 is 16GB of RAM and a GeForce RTX 2060 Super, while Alan Wake 2 recommends 16GB of RAM and a GeForce RTX 3060.

The minimum system requirements for Danganronpa 2x2 are 8GB of RAM and a GeForce RTX 2060. The significant gap between the minimum and recommended tiers has led some players to question the game's optimization.

Shohei Sakakibara later explained that the initially announced specifications corresponded to native 4K resolution and high-quality settings, rather than hardware requirements for standard 1080p environments. The developers will next adjust the recommended specifications based on 1080p display scenarios.

The game is scheduled for release on January 14, 2027. In addition to revising the PC specifications, the game has been specifically optimized for the Nintendo Switch 2, aiming to reduce loading times and ensure stable, smooth performance.
