With the latest PS5 system software update, Sony has added a "Community Activities" widget to the console's welcome screen. This widget showcases trending game content based on the user's region and provides a weekly top 10 list of popular games.
The Community Activities widget is divided into two sections: "Current Trends" and "Top 10," allowing players to see what local PS5 users have been playing recently. However, the widget does not disclose specific player counts or sales figures, so the percentages only reflect recent increases in metrics such as playtime and number of matches.
Taking the "Current Trends" displayed for UK accounts as an example, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre: The Game and Teardown's Battle Royale Solo Mode and Vehicle Sumo Solo Mode have all made it onto the list. Playtime for WWE 2K26 increased by 279%, the number of matches for EA SPORTS FC™ 24 rose by 188%, and the number of matches for World of Tanks' Cold War Co-op Mode grew by 168%.
The same list also includes EA Sports NHL 27, Age of Empires IV: Anniversary Edition, Pool Blitz, and World of Warships: Legends. Among them, playtime for Age of Empires IV: Anniversary Edition increased by 149%, the number of matches in weekly tournaments for Pool Blitz rose by 158%, and the number of matches for World of Warships: Legends grew by 135%.
In the weekly top 10 popular games list for UK accounts, the third to sixth places are occupied by Grand Theft Auto V, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and Marvel Rivals, respectively. The list also shows Call of Duty: Black Ops II in eighth place, Battlefield 6 in ninth, Astro's Playroom in tenth, and Skate also entered the top 10 for the week.
Since the widget does not provide actual player numbers, the various percentage increases and rankings cannot be directly used to judge a game's overall user base. Currently, this feature is mainly used to present recent gaming trends in different regions, and players can view this information directly on the PS5 welcome screen.
