Shueisha Games Announces Delay of "Not Me" to 2027, Enhancing Performances of Four Souls with Motion Capture

Shueisha Games has announced that the release date for the adventure game "Not Me" has been delayed from 2026 to 2027. The development team plans to implement motion capture to further refine subtle movements and facial expressions during dialogues, making the personalities of the four souls within the girl more distinct.

"Not Me" is set in a beautiful yet eerie mental world. Players must converse with four amnesiac souls residing within the girl, evade recurring traumas, and uncover the true owner of the body. Each soul insists they are the real one, leaving the player to decide who remains and who is erased.

The mental labyrinth in the game features a "school" resembling a middle or high school, where oppressive youthful atmospheres blend with bizarre scenery, inhabited by residents with colorful flowers blooming on their heads who cannot speak. The girl's tone and attitude change depending on which soul is dominant; Soul II, revealed in this update, is extroverted, casual, and enigmatic, while Soul IV is more aggressive, often glaring distrustfully at others.

The development team stated that the delay aims to highlight the differences between the four souls through more nuanced movements and expressions, helping players understand their personalities and engage with the story. The newly released development footage shows actors performing in motion capture suits and staff working in the studio to create the game.

Yumiri Hanamori voices both the girl and the four souls within her. Rather than simply altering her voice to distinguish the characters, she unified their expressions as voices emanating from a single body, based on their respective personalities. Hanamori is known for voicing characters such as Nadeshiko Kagamihara in "Laid-Back Camp" and Sagiri Yamada Asaemon in "Hell's Paradise."

The game is planned and developed by Historia, known for works such as "The Caligula Effect 2" and "Live A Live," with Takuya Yamanaka from "The Caligula Effect" series serving as planner and writer. Following the announcement of the voice cast, an official campaign began offering a chance to win signed shikishi boards autographed by Yumiri Hanamori; five winners will be selected from eligible participants, with the campaign running until September 30 at 23:59.

A demo of "Not Me" will be available at the Shueisha Games booth (05-C10) during Tokyo Game Show 2026, where a video message from Yumiri Hanamori will also be screened. The game is scheduled to launch on PC (Steam), PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027, with pricing yet to be announced.
