Level-5's crime mystery RPG, DECAPOLICE, offered demos at Tokyo Game Show 2026. The demo featured two modes: "Case Missions" and "Street Patrols." The Case Missions demonstrated the complete process from investigating scenes and organizing clues to identifying and arresting culprits.
The game is set in the near-future mega-crime city of "Broadstone." The protagonist, Harvard Max, is a 20-year-old rookie DECAPOLICE officer who graduated top of his class from the police academy and leads a new special investigation team. Team members specialize in areas such as negotiation, computer technology, and criminal psychology, utilizing their respective abilities to gather information during investigations.
The showcased "Murder of Three Mafia Members" begins with reinvestigating a series of连环 killings. The game world features a virtual space called "DECASIM" that replicates real cities, allowing past crimes to be reenacted within it. After a system malfunction occurs, investigation team members, street characters, and even the deceased turn into doll-like forms.
Upon entering the crime scene, players can use the DECA Scanner to search for evidence and identify individuals holding key information. Some subjects won't reveal secrets directly, requiring players to select team member skills matching their traits to advance conversations and uncover hidden information.
Once all evidence and testimonies have been collected, the case moves into the deduction phase. Players must organize evidence and character relationships on the case board, piecing together various pieces of information; some evidence can be re-examined based on team members' skill levels. This is followed by the "Thinking Cube" segment, where players must determine whether Harvard's deductions are correct. If a wrong choice is made, players can return and try again repeatedly.
Once the suspect's location is confirmed, the special investigation team proceeds to make an arrest. If the culprit resists, the game shifts into turn-based command battles. Harvard can formulate arrest strategies; "Forceful Breakthrough" enhances physical skill power, while "Attack Blind Spots" strengthens strategic skill effects.
The culprit also possesses four emotions: anger, confusion, fear, and sadness. Certain skills can trigger specific emotions through "psychological attacks," causing status changes once certain thresholds are reached. After forcing the culprit into the "ZONE" state, players can choose dialogue options to further shake their resolve. DECAPOLICE is planned for release on PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PS4, with development targeting a 2027 launch, alongside simultaneous plans for both the game and a TV anime project.
