September 18, 2026 — Battlestate Games announced and released a major update for Escape from Tarkov: Arena. This update introduces an optimized version of the BlastGang mode, adding an in-match economy system, along with a new map — "Laboratory Remastered." Additionally, it launches Battle Pass Season 3, "Era of Plague," which brings the Laboratory tactical map and a series of brand-new exclusive rewards.
Key Features
BlastGang is a 5v5 game mode played on large Arena maps, inspired by classic bomb-defusal gameplay. The attacking team must plant an explosive device, while the defending team must prevent them from doing so or defuse the device before it detonates. The core update for this mode removes standard class presets and introduces an in-match economy system. Players start each match with basic equipment and use temporary currency to purchase weapons, body armor, and consumables before each round:
● Pre-Match Preparation and Arsenal: Players can prepare their match arsenal in advance, customizing in-match store contents and starting equipment, as well as weapon builds. At the same time, the mode retains the core features of Escape from Tarkov: realistic ballistics, detailed armor and damage systems, and deep, open-ended weapon customization.
● Economy System and Teamwork: Players earn currency rewards at the end of rounds, when planting or defusing devices, and when eliminating enemies, with amounts varying based on the weapon type used. Losing teams receive additional subsidies during losing streaks, and players with insufficient funds can request financial support from teammates.
● Streamlined Controls and Balance: The in-match store supports quick purchases via hotkeys and allows refunds for unused items. The weapon customization economy encourages players to find the optimal balance between cost and effectiveness, preventing the prevalence of "overpowered" loadouts.
Meanwhile, Battle Pass Season 3 also brings over 60 new rewards, ranging from weapons and gear to tactical outfits. It also features the new Laboratory tactical map, which has three floors and includes 56 reward progression points. The new tactical map will also contain interactive elements and Easter eggs, allowing players to unlock hidden areas and extra rewards. The new season also brings optimizations to referee items, improvements to game progression mechanics, and the all-new DevTac Ronin modular helmet, which supports interchangeable ballistic plates for head and face protection.
