FAREIDOLIA Demo Details Revealed: Features Voice Interaction and Turn-Based Mobile Combat

Nexon's IO DIVISION has revealed demo content for its new title "FAREIDOLIA," showcasing seamless exploration and turn-based combat, as well as a voice interaction system that allows players to call out to characters via microphone. Previously codenamed "Project RX," the game is still in development.

"FAREIDOLIA" is set in a world very similar to Earth. Players take on the role of the director of the Anima City Revival Center and manager of Twilight Manor, living alongside girls with special abilities and addressing various issues occurring in the city. This approximately 15-minute demo includes a story-driven battle segment and character interactions within Twilight Manor.

In the demo level, the monstrous creature "Shadow Serpent" is unsealed due to a transport error, causing shadows to侵蚀 the second floor of Twilight Manor. Players lead Shami, Ohka, and Miné into a labyrinth for exploration, where they can move and sprint freely, with the level structure changing as they progress.

The game features turn-based combat with movable characters. Players can adjust their positions and skill ranges, and consume "Amplification Slots" to change the order of actions, reminiscent of the command-based battles in "Trails in the Sky the 1st." The three characters have distinct roles: Miné provides damage reduction and shields, Shami excels at applying debuffs and status effects, while Ohka handles ranged attacks.

Exploration and combat can be seamlessly switched between, allowing players to engage in battles without leaving the current scene for a separate battle screen. After completing the level, the demo transitions to life at Twilight Manor. The manor includes a lobby, warehouse, kitchen, and character rooms, with items like menus, tableware, and lifestyle notices creating an environment where the girls live together.

Players can chat with and wave to the girls in Twilight Manor, with gift-giving and outing features also showcased in the demo. By connecting a microphone, players can directly call characters by name or use different forms of address to elicit responses; story options also support voice input, allowing players to simply speak keywords from the choices rather than reading the full lines aloud. Currently, the voice features shown in the demo are primarily used for calling characters and selecting responses.

Developed using Unreal Engine 5, "FAREIDOLIA" will offer its first global public demo at the Nexon booth during TGS 2026, featuring an experience where players can play rock-paper-scissors with Twilight Manor characters via voice commands. The game is expected to launch on consoles, PC, and mobile devices, though a specific release date has not yet been announced.
